WHY YOU SHOULD HAVE AN ENGAGEMENT SHOOT

Or, my favourite - a day before wedding session.

Congratulations on your engagement!! I am so excited you are here and thinking about why you should have this type of photoshoot.
As a seasoned wedding photographer, I've had the privilege of capturing countless love stories, and I'm here to tell you that an engagement shoot is more than just a prelude to your wedding day—it's an essential and incredibly rewarding experience for every couple.
In this blog post, I'll be diving into the many reasons why an engagement shoot is a must-have for couples planning their wedding. From building confidence in front of the camera to creating lasting memories together, an engagement shoot offers numerous benefits that extend far beyond just having photos. So, grab a cup of coffee, cozy up, and let's explore why you should definitely consider having an engagement shoot as part of your wedding journey.

#1 A chance to get comfortable with your photographer: An engagement shoot provides the perfect opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera. Many couples feel nervous about being photographed, especially if they've never done a professional photoshoot before. By having an engagement session, you can ease any anxiety and learn how to relax and be yourselves in front of the camera. This comfort will translate into more natural and authentic photographs on your wedding day.

#2 Bonding Time: Planning a wedding can be stressful, but an engagement shoot offers a chance to take a break from the hustle and bustle and simply enjoy each other's company. It's an opportunity to focus on your relationship and celebrate your love in a relaxed and intimate setting.

#3 Build Trust: Your engagement shoot is also an opportunity to build trust with your photographer. Establishing a good relationship with your photographer is essential for them to be able to capture you on your wedding day to the best of their ability, as you'll be spending a lot of time together on the day. Generally before booking, you spend time to make sure you love your photographers style, work, personality etc, but an engagement session takes it one step further and allows you to get to know their working methods, ensuring that you feel comfortable and confident in their abilities.

#4 Trial Run: Your engagement shoot is the perfect opportunity to do a trial run for your wedding day hair, makeup, and outfit choices. You can use your engagement photos as a test run to see how your chosen attire and styling will look on camera. This allows you to make any adjustments or changes if needed and ensures that you'll look and feel your best on your wedding day.

#5 Invitations: Probably one of the best parts, you can use the photos for your Invitations!!

#6 Locations: An engagement shoot lets you enjoy different locations, generally on your wedding day we will stay at the venue or near-by. This shoot will allow us to travel to different locations with a lot more variety! - Getting married at the beach? Let’s do your engagement photos in the forest!

#7: Documentation: Finally, this shoot allows you to document this chapter in your life. Your engagement is a time of excitement, anticipation, and joy as you prepare to spend the rest of your lives together. Your engagement photos will serve as a beautiful reminder of this time, capturing the love, laughter, and happy moments you share as a couple.

Remember that feeling when you looked through your grandparents photos of them as young adults? Pretty beautiful feeling hey. Let’s recreate that and give your grandkids something to remind them of your life from the early 2000s.
